Skiing
in Tux

A WORLD OF GLITTERING WHITE

500 km of ski terrain?
You're on!

Did you know that the Zillertal is Austria’s largest ski valley? Trust me, you’re not the only one. But it doesn’t really matter.

One note on a personal matter:

The elevation of the Zillertal, and in particular the Tux Valley, make it one of Austria’s most reliably snow-covered areas. So even if Old Man Winter is being stingy elsewhere, there’s still snow here. That’s just the way it is.

When we actually look at how much terrain our guests end up covering, most of them could spend a lifetime on just half of what’s available here. They appreciate beautifully groomed slopes, the glacier-based certainty that snow will be there and the refreshment options down by the base station. But for others, it can never be enough

And rightfully so. Who wouldn’t love a week of skiing where you almost never ski the same trail twice, unless you want to?

One little tip for first-timers:

Out on the snow with Nina

Probably the most comfortable way to discover the ski region, the best trails and steepest cliffs is with Nina, our state-certified ski instructor and former racer on the Austrian national ski team. Whether you’re starting from scratch or ready to let it all hang out — you’ll be amazed at how much fun you have with her.

PS: Nina’s a generous soul — which is why once a week she shares what she knows with our guests for free. Such as through a ski technique session to learn perfect carving turns.

For all who want the exact details:

  • 506 km of majestically groomed ski trails
  • 181 ultra-modern ski lifts
  • Skiing at 580 to a dizzying 3,250 m of elevation
  • A wide range of cozy lodges and mountainside restaurants
  • Ski rentals and sports shops for shopping queens and kings
  • 25 ski schools with roughly 500 instructors

Crising the Tux Valley on two boards

Ski schools in the Zillertal

Even in Tux, champions are made, not born! There are 25 ski schools here in the Zillertal.

It can be hard to choose between them. All legitimately claim expertise, professionalism and authentic Tyrolean charm. It’s never too late to explore the Tux Valley on two boards!

Even those with some kilometers under their bindings will find there’s always plenty more to learn. Depending on your preferences you can book group or private lessons.

Or, if you’re ready for something special, how about a personal ski guide to take you out into the steep and deeps, far from the groomed trails? Or a big-time ski tour? Perhaps with Nina, daughter of the Tirolerhof’s owners and proud owner of her own ski school “Snow Life.”

All info on courses and individual options can be found at Reception.

Strap on those skis, kids, and let's go!

Children’s ski courses

“You can’t teach an old dog new tricks,” they say.

Patently untrue… but kids do actually learn more easily. Games are the best channel for getting kids to develop their own deep passion for snow sports.

There’s one clear focus: Fun, fun and more fun. Your kids will have the time of their lives in the hands of Tyrol’s professional instructors. And Mama and Papa will get some time of their own to shred the slopes of the Zillertal. Naturally no belly will be left grumbling, with meals and loving, competent supervision all part of the package. After just a few days, even three-year-olds will know how to ride the lifts and cruise their way down the Tux Valley’s slopes.

Huge joy for little snow monsters. We recommend booking your courses before arriving. Either directly from the respective ski school, or through our reception desk. For your kids we recommend “Luggis Skischule.” The pros for the little guys!
